ack!

Has it really been almost 17 months since my last post here? Sorry folks. Although, with the ocean that is Facebook it really is nearly impossible to not be up to date on what is going on in peoples lives. And all my blogging focus has gone to my personal blog. There has been so much that has happened over the last year and a half here.

A full year of lead pastor ministry under Brad's belt, Carlon had a full year of grade one and is now head first into grade two. Noah and Iain enjoyed the local Strong Start program here and now Noah is loving two day preschool and Iain hangs out with daddy during that time and mommy gets alone time. Did I say mommy gets alone time? Mommy gets alone time!!! WOOHOO!!
Sorry. I'm a little excited about the alone time. Reading and writing and running and resting and hearing my own thoughts. It's been lovely.

We are currently hunkering down for winter here. Lots of wood has been delivered by helpful friends; Brad is getting his Paul Bunyan on splitting logs every Saturday. Leaves are needing raking and the mountains are starting to show the waning of the year; getting a light dusting on the peaks every few days. The sun is rising after we get up and setting before we go to bed. Soups and stews and comfort foods of all kinds are finding their way into our kitchen. We have been given boxes of apples and carrots and potatoes from farmer friends and I'm already on the christmas lookout (even though we haven't had halloween yet).

Thanksgiving this last week was yummy as usual, and this year we shared it with our missional community. Lots of laughter and visiting. I would encourage you, if you live around family and see them all the year long, step out a bit and have friends over for thanksgiving next year. Maybe you have neighbours, or people at your church that have no family. Thanksgiving is one of the few North American holidays that is adopted by other cultures once they move here. It is a benign holiday, most people can find something to be thankful for and there is no awkwardness of gift giving.  Spread the love, share your table with someone other than family. You'll be surprised how easy it is to find someone that has no place to go, and you won't regret it.
(end sermon)

I know I keep saying this but I will try to post here more often. Especially since I'm trying to post less on facebook.
