One snowy day, one baking day and still not ready for Christmas

It's been a busy few weeks in the BC Reids household. Fall is still with us yet a couple weeks ago it looked like full on winter (well, as wintery as the lower mainland can get) The snow hung around for a day or two then was washed away by a warm front and buckets of rain (as is the custom here). Carlon was able to get out and enjoy throwing snowballs at daddy and getting purple hands because he refuses to wear mitts. Not long after that we had our annual Tinck Christmas baking day. We started it about 10 years ago when my gramma Clinch would still come to stay with us at Christmas. Alas, she has grown too elderly for such a trip so we make the day with just us girls (mom too) and Rayna and Jenna if they want to help out and we do more in 6 hours of a Saturday than most people do on a regular work day. All the goodies are split equally and we don't have to bake another thing the rest of the month. Bonus? We have a Super time in the process.

Now having said all that, I'm still not ready for Christmas. Lots of shopping still and packages to put together. Church events to go to and family events to bring back the old days. Looking forward to it all and so thankful that I'm not experiencing it all from a hospital bed this time around. As I grow bigger with this baby and it's slowing me down I've managed to get past the milestone gestation that landed me on bedrest with Carlon. I think that could be the best Christmas present I could get this year!

my little kitchen mate

Carlon loves to help me in the kitchen, as soon as he hears a countertop appliance running he comes running in to see what's happening and how he can be involved. He pushes a kitchen chair up to the island and gets right in there. Doesn't matter if it's ice cream, potato gnocchi or bread.

no more appologies

As the title says, I will no longer appologize if I don't update the blog on a regular basis. I always have a good reason for not doing it and yet still manage to feel guilty. I'm not even sure if anyone actually reads it so enough. On we go...
We have had one or two things happen in the last few months (note sarcasm here) A week of vacation with my sisters family in July at a cottage getaway in Oroville WA. the southern part of Osooyos lake. It was great fun and maybe I'll get around to posting some pics. after that it was home to our still new home and getting more and more used to the idea of being pregnant. Yep you read right, we are preggers again... because the last pregnancy wasn't stressful enough... I'm going to torture my body again. So far all is well, my OB is keeping a very close eye on things and I'm trying to do a better job of listening to my body. I'm going to do all I can to keep from spending 2 weeks or more in the hospital again.
Brad is back in the throws of student ministries at Bethany. September is typically his busiest time and he's back at school to attain his Masters in Christian Studies.
I am still trying to get my barings and make our new home feel like home to me. I can navigate myself around no problem but I haven't had the chance to paint anything and we still have unpacked boxes (mostly in the garage but there non the less) I feel like they are calling to me "let us out put us in our rightful spot" however I have no spot to put them yet. Each of us has managed to make our own special marks. Some of us have left more marks than others (Carlon) and some of us have made more damaging marks (ahem) still all are fixable and I'm very grateful for a dad who knows how to do those things.
So there it is... so far... well I could share more but that's all I feel like saying at the moment. We have taken several pics over the last few months and I'll get aroound to posting them at some point. Till then...

Our new place

We've finally got a bigger place, so big in fact that Carlon has his own bedroom YAY!! We are all very happy about that. We also have room for guests so feel free to come by and visit sometime.

good bye little red

This car was origonally purchased by my older sister back in 1991, then sold to my other sister a few years later then sold to me. It served us all well for 18 years until I had to decomission it when I went on bed rest with Carlon. I held onto it all this time, partly hoping I could drive it again and partly because it was my last bit left from my single days. It may sound silly but that car was a big part of my growing up and it's hard not to be attached to the object attached to so many good memories. Well now little red is helping kidney patients as he was donated to the kidney car line.

seeing spots

Back in early June Carlon came down with an odd rash that started at his feet and went to his bum then the rest of his body within 24 hours. A fever of 102.7 errupted two days later and off to the hospital we went only to be told it was just some sort of virus. The doctor didn't expect us to catch it but keep we should keep him away from other kids. So he and I stayed home from church that Sunday and wouldn't you know it, exactly a week later Brad got the same rash but no fever then I got a fever and then the rash (although no where near as bad as Carlon or Brad). It really goes to show that there is so much floating around out there. I'm sure the doctors are just as perplexed as the parents are.

Daddy's old Game Boy

A while back Carlon got into Brad's old electronics bin and pulled out the old Dot Matrix Game Boy. He found it quite fasinating. He has since become bored with it, not unlike most boys and their toys. Always onto to something bigger and better. I plan on holding off the Xbox as long as I can.
